December 2009: Volkswagen-Foundation grant for three years of work on dinosaur evolution across the Middle-Late Jurassic boundary (in colaboration with Daniela Schwarz-Wings, Richard Butler, Matthew Carrano, Kristina Curry-Rogers, and Octávio Mateus).
 
March 2008: DFG (German Research Foundation) grant for three years of fieldwork in the Middle and Late Jurassic of Chubut Province, Argentina.
 
June 2007: EU Synthesis grant for work in the collections of the Natural History Museum in London.
 
June 2007: DFG (German Research Foundation) grant for two years of fieldwork in South Africa (Elliot saurischians).
 
January 2007: DFG (German Research Foundation) grant for three years (morphofunctional evolution of the presacral vertebrae in sauropodomorphs), in the framework of the DFG Research Unit „Biology of the Sauropod Dinosaurs: The Evolution of Gigantism“.

December 2003: Jurassic Foundation grant for fieldwork in the Lower Cretaceous of Chubut.
 
February 2003: DFG (German Research Foundation) grant and fellowship for two years (Jurassic Gondwanan theropods).
 
October 2002: One-year Marie-Curie postdoctoral fellowship at the Natural History Museum in London. The fellowship was cancelled in favour of the DFG grant and fellowship for two years.
 
September 2001: BBC / Horizon grant, financing a multidisciplinary project (geology, stratigraphy, paleobotany, vertebrate paleontology) in the Jurassic Cañadón Asfalto Formation for two years.
 
December 2000: Jurassic Foundation grant (with P. Puerta, S. de Valais and G. Cladera) for fieldwork in the Lower to ”Middle” Cretaceous Chubut Group of Patagonia.
 
December 2000: Antorchas grant (with R. Cúneo) for logistic support of the Middle Jurassic dinosaur project.
 
September 2000 - August 2001: Two-year postdoctoral fellowship of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) for work on Middle Jurassic dinosaurs from Argentina.
 
September 1996 - September 1999: Three-year Marie-Curie Postgraduate Fellowship of the European Union for doing a PhD at the University of Bristol.
